What Scope should I get?
« on: May 08, 2008, 03:24:40 PM »
I'm looking at scopes to mount on my 700 SPS Varmint 7mm-08.  I'll be using the rifle for targets from 100 to 1000 yards and will also be doing some coyote, groundhog, and maybe deer hunting with it as well.  I've been looking at the Super Sniper Scopes in 10X and 16X, the Burris FF II Tactical scopes, and the Bushnell Elite 6500 scopes.
The 6500's are a little more than I'd like to spend but they have all the features I'm looking for.  I'd like to get a scope with a 30mm tube because I've heard it offers more adjustment for shooting long range, but I don't really know how much of a difference it makes.  If I decide to get a scope with a 1" tube then it opens up a lot more possibilities for scopes that are in my price range of $500 or less.

So what scope do you guys think would be best suited for this rifle for these uses?

Thanks,
Ken

I have been reading about the Super Sniper scopes for months now. I have not read a bad review yet. I will be buying the fixed power 16x42 soon for my 243 SPS Varmint. I shoot Groundhogs with this rifle out to 500+ yards. I did kick around the idea of the SS fixed 10 power but I think the 16 better fits my needs. If you decide to go with a 10 power look at the Bushnell 3200 fixed 10 power. If I were giong with a 10 power that would be the one I would choose. Dale
