Aussie hound hunters shafted
« on: January 24, 2004, 04:27:55 PM »
In the state of Victoria  in Australia the state govt. went back on its word and made it illegal to hunt sambar deer using scent trailing hounds except for pure bred beagles and blood hounds considering over 96% of the hounds used are fox hounds or fox hound crosses, they just condemed over 6000 dogs to death ,some off these blood lines go back over a 100 years, oh yeah there is no phase out period either. The cost of pure bred beagle pups went from around $200 to over $700 + over night God only knows what a blood hound would cost even if you could find one over here any way. I rang and E mailed the R.S.P.C.A no comment or no reply. So in closing fellow hound devotee's watch your back.

Aussies Shafted
« Reply #1 on: January 29, 2004, 05:50:30 AM »
sambar02 - sounds like you boys are getting shafted regularly these days.  I got the information below from a fellow New York hunter, and it basically says it all.

First it was your guns, now its your dogs - how much longer do you think it will be before they get to your wives and children.  Maybe it is time for you folks to take back your rights................... Our Canadian neighbors are in about the same boat.  Methinks it is either time to vote them out or just plain kick them out.  Lemme know if I can be of any assistance.  Mikey.

FROM POLICE OFFICER IN AUSTRALIA   ARTICLE SENT TO  A LADY
IIN AUSTRALIA AND THIS WAS TRUE AND SHE AGREED WITH  IT...

From:  Ed Chenel, A police officer in Australia

Hi  Yanks,   I  thought you all would like to see the real figures from Down
Under.
> > > > >
It has now  been 12 months since gun owners in Australia were forced by a
new law  to  surrender 640,381 personal firearms to be destroyed by our own
government,  a  program costing Australia taxpayers more than $500 million
dollars.
> > > > >
The first year results are now in: Australia-wide, homicides  are up 3.2
percent, Australia-wide, assaults are up 8.6 percent; Australia-wide,  armed
robberies are up 44 percent (yes, 44 percent)!
> > > > >
In the state of Victoria  alone, homicides with firearms are now up 300
percent. (Note that while the  law-abiding citizens turned them in, the
criminals did not ! and criminals still  possess their guns!)
While figures over the previous 25 years showed a steady  decrease in armed
robbery with firearms, this has changed drastically upward in  the past 12
months, since the criminals now are guaranteed that their prey is unarmed.

There has also been a dramatic increase in break-ins and assaults of the
elderly.
> > > > >
Australian politicians are at a loss to explain how public safety has
decreased, after such monumental effort and expense was expended in
"successfully ridding Australian society of guns." You won't see this on the
American evening news or hear your governor or members of the state Assembly
disseminating this information.

The Australian experience proves it.

Guns  in the hands of  honest citizens save lives and property and, yes,
gun-control laws affect only  the law-abiding citizens.

i for one am not totally familiar with the gun laws in austraila. what guns can yuall have if any? what have they banned? i can imagine and let me know if this is so ,that the voteing population of the very large citys really outnumbers the rural people. is this what is cuaseing the gun law problems? i hope the season for sambar deer is long as yu will need the extra time to run them down with a beagle or a bloodhound!
