Whats Hot in the surplus market right now?
« on: May 26, 2008, 01:30:03 PM »
So whats the hottest buy right now in the surplup market?

The only thing i see new is the czech vz58 being offered in 7.62x39 @ $800.  We still have the yugo 8mm mausers and sks's.  Also some 303 britts are showing up lately too. But besides the mosins there isn't much i haven't seen already.  I guess i'll start saving for an M14.

Any news about anything new comming here soon?

I heard a longtime ago there were a lot of russian SVT-40's waiting to come here but i doubt we'll ever see them.

Maybe we'll see some new sks's from another country?

The out look for something new or different seems are chances are slim to none.  I hope i'm wrong.  Maybe the EU (european union) has put a damper on shipping stuff here by destroying it  first.  I have a feeling thats why some of the surplus ammo has dried up.

Years ago there were lots of pretty decent bolt action rifles selling for attractive prices but there was not an unlimited supply and they have been selling for many years now so even the remaining Mausers and SMLEs are up there in price. The Swedes and K-31s are going for 50% more than just a few years ago because that supply is also drying up. Most of the world's military went over to "assult rifles" after WWII and I doubt you'll be seeing any "assult rifles" at any price.
The story of David & Goliath only demonstrates the superiority of ballistic projectiles over hand weapons, poor old Goliath never had a chance.
