Creeping Magazine Tube
« on: May 12, 2008, 03:08:23 PM »
Took the Rossi 44 mag 1982 out to play yesterday, first time since hunting last fall.  29 rounds had the tube moved forward past the muzzle.  Thought the gunsmith had fixed it when he drilled a little deeper and put a longer screw in up front.  Any one have a better fix, I really like the thing and it did get 2 deer last year, so has earned it's keep. ;)  DP.

Have your smith cut a dovetail on the barrel where the recess for the magazine cap retaining screw is.  Drive a slug in the dovetail slot and then drill a recess for the cap screw to screw to sit in.  A neoprene washer is an option around the screw.  The slug is much harder than the barrel and won't peen out with recoil.
