TM;
I am of course familiar with Romans 13... It has 3 cogent points for Christians, as outlined by Matthew Henry.
1) A lesson of subjection to lawful authority. (being a good citizen)
2) A lesson of justice and love toward our brethren. ( being a good neighbor & brother)
3) A lesson of sobriety and godliness in ourselves ( checking our own walk with Christ)
I cannot imagine what this so-called program or initiative is, except possibly something made up by anti-God idiots..to make Christians look bad..but that is nothing new !
BTW: You say my synopsis of Romans 13 is "altered"..I have already told you it is not my condensation, but that of Matthew Henry. Perhaps you consider yourself a better Bible scholar
than is Matthew Henry...but I think NOT !
Since I and probably every Christian here, know nothing about such a program.perhaps you can inform us about it..do so please ! Obviously, until you do share this
mysterious "initiative"..there is no comment I can make !
BTW: Since you now know what Romans 13 is basically about..I recommend you share Romans 13 with your Muslim friends !
So you're saying you don't know what the Pastor's initiative is. OK,,,maybe we'll get into it later. Your interpretation of Romans 13 is abbreviated, or I should say altered.
As for muzzies civil responsiibillities to governnemt I guess we all know they operate under admitted theocracies; i.e. no separation of church and state, and I'm not here to critique their sytem cause I really don't care what they do. But you profess the same liturgy oft citing that the USA was setup and meant to be a Christian country. Religous zealotry is all the same around the world, and this is why interpretation, actually quite clear, of Romans 13 is important to Christians and I recommend sharing it correctly with your neocon friends.
...TM7
Sorry TM; you accused me of operating under some mystical "pastor's initiative"..something that I doubt very much exists..simply because all the different branches of Christianity today
cannot agree on most details, say nothing about forming some kind of "secret society" initiative..but unlike the Muslims we don't butcher each other over the small differences.
There were violent times in the past, but Christianity as a faith has matured. The Jewish faith has matured and we get along fine..respecting each other..that leaves one left, that seems
to be a looong way from mature !
I said the country was begun by Christian forefathers (true) and I said it was based upon Christian principles(true)..but I did not say that we should be operating as a theocracy (untrue).
I would only like our national leaders of today to acknowledge the true fact that our nation was founded by and under the auspices I mentioned above. Too often, these days, some
folks are trying to deny our obvious heritage..and I for one, do not like to "live a lie". This whole debate would never have started if some "johnny-come-latelys" had not tried to deny
our true American heritage. Think ! This argument had no place 35 years ago...people had better sense, and probably a better education.
BTW: You say my synopsis of Romans 13 is faulty. I have already told you that it is not my condensation of Romans 13, but that of Matthew Henry.
You may consider yourself a Bible scholar superior to Matthew Henry; but I think NOT !
