BIG BORE .500 DIA BOLT ACTION

Well I went and did it again and added another big bore to the collection .It is a 500 CYRUS .
It is a blown out 416 Rigby necked to .500 DIA .
I push a 700 GRAIN WFNGC at Vel 1850 , here are a couple loads

700 Grain WFNGC 70 Grains H4895 Velocity 1850
610 Grain LFNGC 73 Grains H322 Velocity 1940
420 Grain FNGC 83 Grains H322 Velocity 2280
325 Grain Barnes XPB 88 Grains H322 Velocity 2600

Being this rifle is so light all of these loads have a wallop indeed !!!
But it hurts so good !!!!!!!!!!
The rifle holds three rounds in the clip .

Here are two pictures of some loaded 700 and 610 grain bullets .
This rifle has put a few smiles on big bore junkies ......

IT's a real man that can show both his sides, the rough, tough, kick-butt rifle hunting side, and the mellow playfull spongbob tea-set owning side. Nice rifle by the way

Rick,

I hadn't had a chance to tell you but the 610 gr 50's out perform the 700's.   I got 1600 fps in my Handi!  I settled in on 1550 fps for accuracy - 2" @ 50 yds and 3" @ 100 yd.  With 75 yd zero, nothing I've seen can tell the difference between 610 & 700!!!

I can't afford a Cross Outdoors rifle but I do have a model 70 action available for a project.  Would your buddy part with a barrel, dies, and or a reamer?  I would be willing to buy a bolt from him!  I'm Christian and proud of it!

Howdy again.
Lets just say during my first round of sighting this in I was amazed at the recoil .
This rifle will set you back a bit.
The rifle does have a nice recoil pad and it needs to be ported .
That was a long answer to say it hurts !!!!!! Period
Odd thing is I still love to touch one off anytime I go to the range !!!!
Guess I like the punishment ????

I mainly shoot cast through it .
I did have a customer send me the copper and brass bullets he had made from another bullet maker .
I have not hunted with them just killed some wet news paper !!!!
The hard cast heat treated bullets I use do not mushroom out much at all and so the tissue damage is not that great although the entrance wound is still half an inch .
The regular cast bullet not heat treated mushrooms out to .75 and that is a pretty good size drain hole
