45 acp and oregon trial bullets

made my first attempt at reloading for my ruger p97. loads were 200gr oregon trail swc  with titegroup win case and primers. accuracy was very good but I had several jams. This gun has never jammed with factory ammo. my col was 1.200 the problem seemed that as the bullet hit the ramp it would turn and the case would strike the barrel and stop the slide. I am using the lee die set with the taper crimp die. I tried rounds in all three of my mags. but the problem did not go away. Is a longer col needed? any help would be appreciated

j104wd:  I'm not so sure about the oal - my books show a 1.275 oal for the 45 so that may not be that much difference, but it may.  Some folk load the swc slugs far enough out so the leading band just touches the rifling as long as chambering is positive.

Whenever I load a swc slug in the 45 acp case I have to make sure the case mouth crimps at the leading edge of the front band; I use a taper crimp and haven't had any jams.  HTH.  Mikey.

just tried out another batch this time I loaded them a little longer at 1.238 thats just shy of the lands in my chamber seemed to fix my problem.
