Brit 10 in. howitzer model, 1/10 scale
« on: June 16, 2008, 07:58:01 AM »
I had to put the little show together for another purpose, so thought I'd share it.  I think the model may be an arsenal-type model.  All that seems to be missing are the capsquares.  The trunnion rests are bronze castings, and I can't find my book that would tell something about the full sized piece.

Anyway, barrel weighs 6 lbs, and is 6 1/4 in. long, the whole thing is about 14 in. long and weighs about 11 lbs.  Scale model bore is 1 inch diameter.  Rear sight mass and front sight are separate pieces, look like brass since they are a bit lighter-colored than the bronze barrel.  The barrel was cast into its present shape, from the looks of it.

The model was once in the Fort Ticonderoga museum.  The gent I got it from was a friend of the Pell family who owns the fort, or used to anyway.
