How to use your rebate check.
« on: May 23, 2008, 01:20:43 PM »
Got an e-mail from a friend, this is what he has to say about our rebate check.

How to use Your IRS Rebate check...

As you may have heard, each of us will be getting a tax rebate check to stimulate the economy.

If we spend that money at Wal-Mart, all the money will go to China. If we spend it on gasoline it will go to the Arabs. If we purchase a computer it will go to India. If we purchase fruits and vegetables it will go to Honduras, and Guatemala. If we purchase a good car it will go to Japan. If we purchase useless stuff it will go to Taiwan and none of it will help the American economy.

We need to keep that money here in America. The only way to keep that money here at home is to spend it at
Yard Sales, since those are the only businesses left owned by Americans !!
Where is old Joe when we really need him?  Alaska Independence    Calling Illegal Immigrants "Undocumented Aliens" is like calling Drug Dealers "Unlicensed Pharmacists"
What Is A Veteran?
A 'Veteran' -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve -- is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America,' for an amount of 'up to, and including his life.' That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country today who no longer understand that fact.

Hairtrigger you obviously are not a union member. I have been a union carpenter for 14 years and worked in the same trade for many years before that. I have to work for my check or they will find someone else that will. Have you ever worked with lazy people that weren't in the union? The unions are the same way, some people are hard working and some are lazy and when it comes time to lay off, the lazy ones are the first to go just like in the non-union world. The only difference is we get paid well and have better benefits. Other than that people are people, union or not.

Ive worked overtime at the drop of a hat, 12 hours a day 7 days a week for months on end, consecutive 16+ hour days. 28 hour shifts, 32 hour shifts. One shop I worked in was 10-12 hours 6 days a week and sometimes Sundays for a year and a half straight. So I'm sorry I do take offense at some of the anti-union comments I hear. Now don't get me wrong I worked along side of people just like you describe but they are not me and they are not a good representation of most of the labor force. That lazy union image is intrue and very difficult to get past.

I know this is off topic but.....

I know what my rebate check is going for. I finally got the hospital bill today for my wife's new knee. O well, better than having to dig it out of my pocket.

I haven't seen mine yet either. My number is 76 and my direct deposit got screwed up so I got a check.  I'm going to take the childrens money and let them buy stuff with half of it. Bt stuff I mean clothes and things they need mostly and maybe a little for fun things. The other half is going into their savings accounts. The rest as I said before will help pay for the family vacation this year.

Hmmm... Vacation... what is that exactly? I have heard of them but just not sure what they are. ::) :o ;D

Oh and as far as the rebate checks I think that canned and dried goods might be a wise investment.

Gee, I wish the Union I worked for had these card games going on. It would beat the hell out of actually working all day while management took all the credit and played on the internet all day.
BTW to stay on topic....I'm spending mine on a S&W M&P15FT
