TC wood grips vs TC rubber grips
« on: May 20, 2008, 01:19:44 PM »
I just received the rubber grips for the G2, and they seem awfully hard to me.  Has anyone compared the wood grips to the rubber grips, as to whether one is better for felt recoil?

Take both pair to the range with you.  Put in ear plugs and then ear muffs.  Shoot first with one set of grips then the other.  Being double plugged on the hearing, you wont flinch from the sound.  You should be able to distinguish any different yourself.  I have many contenders frames.  All have contender grips of one sort or another.  I have barrels set up for each frame depending on how I will shot it.  My frames that house the heavier recoiling barrels all have the rubber on the grip.  Recoil doesn't get me near as much as the fatigue from gripping the gun for long matches.

From personal experience , I had a 460 Encore barrel , 12 " with a tamer ....had rubber grips on the frame, lots of recoil and everything that goes with it !  My son bought me a pair of nice walnut grips and forearm , put them on my rig....stainless and walnut looked sharp.
The first time I took it to the range , I had blisters on my right index finger ( unknown cause ) had a spot rubbed raw on my left index finger ( from the trigger guard )...and several other areas of pain on my hands............Rubber grips went back on ,  They do make a difference on the heavy kickers  Good luck....
