Here is the story.  I have a youngster coming to stay with us in Aug.  Sort of an adopted grandson.  I have gotten all my old arrows out, refletched them and tore off all of the broadheads and refitted them with field tips.  Got a big old foam target and bought a new sting for my old bear panther semi recurve, picked up a used bear compound, again only adjustable down to 40#.  He will never work either, not this year.  A typical 13 year old game boy type.  I would like to pick up a bow in the 2o to 35# range.  I see lots of bows on ebay but they don't seem to understand draw weight or they don't feel the need to list it.  I need any recomendations with types and brand names you can offer.  I would prefer to pick up a used bow as it may be used a few times and back to the controller.  It does not have to be compound, long or semi would fill the bill.  Glass or even wood.  He will never hunt, his mother would never permit it.  We will cut paper bust  balloons.  He is a tall boy so a long draw is ok, muscles... well I will only have him for a week......  Thats why I had it in mind to find a 30# bow, cheap.  Any help appreciated.  JB

Try the Mathews Genesis, it's a great little bow for the money and your grandson can grow into it as there is no specific draw length. Kids and adults both can use these bows. The Genesis at a 20lb pull stores and releases energy to that comparable to a 35lb recurve.....you can shoot these all day and never tire out with such a low draw weight.  I use the Genesis Pro model (25lb pull) as a recreational bow for practicing my form and aim.

I bought my Genesis bows from here: http://www.genesis-outlet.com/order.html ,  I have 3, one for me (Genesis Pro), and two Genesis for my wife and kids to share....we all love them. You can buy the kit that comes with the bow, arrows, a quiver, and an arm guard. I love shooting this bow for just fun and Genesis Outlet has extra arrows and accessories. They also have great customer service.
If you're looking for a used one try e-bay...whatever you do, DO NOT buy him a the Mini Youth model as it will be way too small for a 13yr old.

Well here is an update.  I came across a lovely fiberglass Ben Pearson semi re-curve at 30# for a song and snapped it up.  When I went to Sportsman Warehouse to buy a fresh string the salesman showed me the Genisis bow, WoW! what a lovely piece of equipment.  the even let of resistance at various pull lengths,  is quite amazing as well as the lower pull for power delivered ratio.  If he likes the 30# and wants to take up archery I will get the Genisis.  Their price was under $200.  very nice bow, thanks for the recomendation.  jb
