Best time of year to invite new shooters
« on: July 15, 2003, 04:30:41 PM »
Here along the Gulf Coast (we got missed my Claudette today) it is hot and sticky from about June to end of September.  I figure that a new shooter would love to give this a try in October or there after.  Wouldn't want to discourage them if they want to come out during the summer but something about 90+* and humidity to match kinda takes some of the fun out of the experience.
Figure you gotta "set the hook" on that first visit.  Then just watch as they join in with both boots.

I agree with Peddler Parsons.  Early Fall in this part of Texas and have brought about 5 new shooters out during that time......heat is not any type of issue!

Howdy,

Not to be ornery, but I just is..
We had eight new shooters with us last month.  It was hotter than blazes, July in Central Texas.  They all had a blast and I expect we'll see most them again.

So my advice is to strike while the iron is hot!  Don't put off an interested shooter.  If they have a decent time under less than perfect conditions, think about how much fun they will have in great weather.

Adios,
