Yes they did.

The barrel is discontinued because of failure to fire problems (I think that's the official reason)

There was a RMEF .35 Whelen some time back also.

guru,
spanky is right.  they were recently discontinued due to failure to fire. i had mine fixed with no issues after but sold it for something different.
in any event there are out there, NIB or used, but i'd look for one of the RMEF's one made before 2000.

My .35 Whelen was made during the RMEF run, it shoots great with both factory and my reloads.  It is devastating on Black Bear at 15 yards from a stand, with 250gr Nosler Partitions.  Looking for a Grizzly with it also.

What Is A Veteran?
A 'Veteran' -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve -- is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America,' for an amount of 'up to, and including his life.' That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country today who no longer understand that fact.

Scibaer, I think I own that gun now, I bought it from burntmuch. I have shot a box of factory ammo thru it with no problems. I am glad to hear that this rifle is one that was fixed at the factory though. I'm getting 1" groups with it. I have one rifle that is by far my favorite deer rifle, but this .35 is gaining ground on it all the time.

Walmart still lists them for sale in their stores, check and see if you can find one in stock.  Larry
