upgraded my ccw (Pics) check it out

After an impossible search for a CCW IWB holster for a PA-63 I decided to make one.  I also made new grips for it.

I spent the morning yesterday making a new set of grips out of Zircote. I also made them oversize so they fill the grip and made them thinner so printing is minimal.   I did not like the original plastics with the thumb ramp at all.   

I spent this afternoon after church making the Kydex holster.  For a first try at a gun holster I am happy with the results.  It carries very comfortably too.  Not the prettiest but the function is right on.

When I get time I want to checker the grips and engrave the frame and slide.




I am really happy with the way it turned out.  Thanks for allowing me to show it off a little.

The holster and the grips look great! Bet your engraving and checkering work out well too. Doubt I'd have the nerve to attempt engraving, but the PA63 would be a good one to learn on. I'd be interested in pics when you're done. Great Job!

Thanks guys,

The engraving is the easy part for me.  I make my living as an engraver and have about 20 years under my belt at that.  I am more worried about getting the checkering right.  I have had a set of checkering tools for years but I have just never really broke down and tried it.   I figure this might be a good place to give it a try.

Those grips look great, I wouldn't want to mess them up/ Maybe try on some scrap first to get the hang of how the tools feel. Just a thought. Good job.

You do really nice work.  Wish I had the skills you possess!!   I am a bit envious of your skills.   I like the holster too!  bet it does not print either.   I carry a XD 9 in a shoulder holster at church as there have been some strange things occur and we (ccw holders) have been encouraged to carry.  Sad to say the way this country is going!

If you can engrave--you can checker--try a practice piece first.
