Been playing  with my 357 barrel  that I got a while back.  It doesn't group at 100 yds so I checked the chamber length.  The chamber length was generous so I got some 360 DW brass from midway.  It dropped in the chamber.  Using a loaded DW case I measured again and determine that my chamber was only .005" short of chambering a 357 max.  Amazing.  H&R needs a new reamer!.  Haven't shot the loads in the 360DW brass, but if it does ok I'll just ignore the extra chamber length.  If not I'll get some Max brass and just trim it.  A couple of questions for you Max shooters.

1) Can you reload max brass with 357 mag dies?
2) What kind of velocity gains do you get from the max vs the 357 mag?

 I have a 357 Mag, Shot some with 38 spl. & 357 mag not good groups.
 Next i reamed to maximum lenght, works great, even with 38 and mags.
 I think that is best, One guy i heard was using 360 DW brass was getting
 split brass after few reloads. I have mostly Max brass. No problems.
 I realy like the little girl now. It's a keeper Just my 2 cents. Marv.

H&R is using the standard reamer for rifle and Contender 357 mag chambers. If you Google up 357 mag TC chamber, there is a chambercast picture that demonstrates this in one of the first hits. Remamber SAAMI sets only safety standards and not accuracy standards for chambers. If you want accuracy, do the work around to get it.

There are chamber cast pics here on this forum if you use the search function to see them, the lengthy 357 chambers subject has been beat to death discussed a bunch.
