330's

How do you suspend your 330's so they don't sit on the bottom of a lake/pond etc?

I use my stabilizers, but if I am unable to get one in,because of rocks--I pin them to the bottom. And I set with the trigger on the bottom. And yes, even pinned on the bottom--they will still fire.

Ive never used a stabilizer for 330's. I'm sure they work slick. Here comes the BUT! But they are heavy and another thing to carry in! I use sticks layin around the set site. Free and easy! I don't see any drawback to there use? Submerged sets maybe? But i've used them that way also . If you were going into the same spot year after year. Then it would be worth it!

Troy,if I can carry in 330s and carry out a couple hundred pounds of beaver, a few stabilizers do not even make me blink.
Sticks are fine,I have a video of me years ago, using sticks.I about fall asleep watching it--it is a good sleep aide.
I want to get in and out of an area as quickly as possible----stabilizers is one way to do it. The time I save at each set, allows me the opportunity to get in more sets.
If time is not an issue, sticks will work just fine.

Tom there is no doubt that they are faster! I just need to get enough hot spots under my belt to warrent my humping them in. Then i could hang them in a tree till next season! I was in exploratory mode this year. There are some spots that i will be packing in some before season this year! As for humping out beaver thats what shawns for!! LOL I'm really going to get it now!

ok I dont have any stabilizers.....yet. If I use sticks for now do you wire the spings to the support sticks to keep the 330 off the bottom?

Tom, Troy only needs two stabilizers for his vast collection of conibears. I wish he would get some stabilizers so that I wouldn't have to do 3 sets to his 1.  As for humping stuff in and out, he has trouble getting himself in and out.

Maze, if your are going to suspend your 330's without a stabilizer, try using 2 longer sticks about the diameter of the compressed springs on your traps. Put the sticks through the compressed springs, not the eyes of the spring, then up to the corners of the jaws, Then push the springs down onto the sticks. This should lock the trap into place. Try it out in the back yard before you hit the water.

Troy you better start running with your wife, because fall is just around the corner. As for 330's up to ears, I'd better go check my garage to see if my 330's are still there.

We'll be set for traps! But more never hurt! I'm riding the bike when the wife runs! Its a start! Are you even going to get the chance to trap come fall & spring? Or are you heading to the U.P for work? Cuz then i don't have to share all the glory!LOL I'll subcontract you out for scraping so you don't forget what beaver looks like!! LOL You can thank me later!
