congrats wc, I'll do some searchin and send aliitle later. there some specialty pistol bullets available if you didn't already know that. But my general idea goes lite bullets less recoil, fast powder less muzzle blast.  :D On

yep, i'm up on the bullets. i'm gonna load 130gr hornady sspb's. hornady has discontinued these but say the regular .308 130gr bullet is identical and will expand at handgun velocity. i'm interested in anything you find. i have some data from others and even have a chronograph on the way. i'll start with regular 30-30 loads to form some cases. thanks :D

so far i have about three good loads for the 14" 30-30AI. two of those are fireforming loads.
fireform: 37.5gr IMR4350, sierra 125gr sp,rem 9 1/2 primer, win. brass, 2.67 oal. not much in velocity, but makes a great target-practice load to form cases.

fireform: 30.0gr IMR4198, hornady 130gr sp, rem 9 1/2 primer, win. brass, 2.67oal. averages 2355fps

formed ackley improved 30-30 case: **.*gr IMR4198, hornady 130gr sspb, rem 9 1/2 primer, win brass,2.67 oal. averages 2588fps = deer thumper!

for comparison, factory 30-30 winchester 150gr hp's average around 2200fps and form cases to the improved shape just fine. 8)
