Has anyone every hunted bobcats in FL or the south? i thinking about doing it and i have some calls and stuff for coyotes but i know very little about how to hunt bobcats. I have a .22LR rilfe with high powed scope,380 handgun with laser, a 50 and 35 pound bows and a 44mag handgun with open sights and can i use any of these for bobs or do i need a 223 or 20ga(i am very good with all those guns and have killed MANY coyotes with them? also any info will be helpful.

Jamaldog87 where have you been, been missing you.
any thing you can kill a coyote will will work on Mr. Bobcat. If you are using an electronic call
be sure to put the speaker 25-30 yards away from you, if using a mouth call have some one
go with you and set back to back, Mr. Bobcats likes to get up close and personal, if you
don't see him soon enough. ::)

do they come more running in or are they more stealth like a fox? most of the coyotes i have killed came in a little(about 30-50 yards most times) and stopped before running off. also is a 20GA going to be better then my .22 cause i can easily kill any coyote with that thing. If i am going to do this i want to do it right.

just make real sure it is not a flordia panther (cougar) real rare critters.

even if you could, it like trying to find or kill a ghost. this winter i will try my .22LR with some Stinger(it's killed many coyotes) and maybe get a 20ga just in case.

I knew an old timer that used to use a .22 on bobcats so I would think that a .22 would be good enough for them. Just keep the shots fairly close. Like within about 30 or 40 yards and you should be set.

OK. thanks. I have killed a lot of  coyotes at that range with my .22LR with a shot to the eye(i used to shoot everyday before i started working and now i need to shoot more ???) Now all i have to do is wait for the season to open.
