BROWNING ACTION
« on: July 27, 2006, 11:09:28 AM »
Why is it that no one builds a serious rifle on a Browning action ? if there are any gunsmiths out there that can shed some light on this it would great to hear about. FN ownes Browning and makes FN tactical rifles on a Mauser style action .what do they think is wrong with the Browning a bolt action ? this has me wondering about the A Bolt . ???

I dont think it has anything to do with the strength of the action,  it is very strong.  I think it has to do with the availability of aftermarket parts.  the mauser 98 style actin has been around forever and has millions of parts available.  Browning is a somewhat unique action that doesn't have a ton of aftermarket parts.  Simple as that.

I had heard there is something about how the barrel is attached to the action. I thought it was more difficult to seperate & change barrels than some of the more common 700 & Savage project rifles.
