Cannons of BUDAPEST, Hungary

Come April I'll be taking a trip to Budapest, Hungary (work).

THIS time I'll be taking a few extra days to enjoy the town.  (2+ million).

What are your experiences on where the cannons are?

Pix is from one of the museums that I found on the internet.

Tim;

Try these coordinates on Google Earth 47.504330 19.027879 I think you want to see the Hungarian Military Museum. Be sure to turn on Points of Interest and photos by users. Lots of cannon pics.

Here's a chance for me to get smarter.  I tried to get that, had to download a GE program first, did that, went to install, computer could not find a valid digital signature, so I passed on installing it as it may be an imposter destructive program or something.  Any suggestions?  Can you just give us a link to that position or site please?

thanks

I found the museum's website but it seems to be full of photos of their handsome staff members like Scuzbalik here:

Bill -  THANKS!
Often the BEST pictures are from those passing through!

Cannonmn -  the "not having a valid digital signature' is intimidation from Microsoft.  It means that the SENDER did not pay the $$$ to Bill Gates retirement fund.  Having the popup come up is Microsoft's way of drumming up business.

Thanks Cat man.  Aren't those pix located somewhere so you can just copy the URL and post it here so we all don't have to do the GE bit?  Thanks in advance to anyone who posts the url of the pix here.

Information seems to be hard to come by on this country in general and city in particular.  When you do get there, make the most of your historical/cannon related side trips.  Mike and I try to take 5 shots of each cannon that we find.  I think cannonman does the same.  We start at the breech and get a breech face shot, a top view shot, a right trunnion shot, a muzzle shot and a left trunnion shot.  Just a suggestion, but a few extra photos won't cost any more and sometimes reveal details that you will only notice later.  Sure sounds like a great trip!!

Regards,

Tracy and Mike
Smokin' my pipe on the mountings, sniffin' the mornin'-cool,
I walks in my old brown gaiters along o' my old brown mule,
With seventy gunners be'ind me, an' never a beggar forgets
It's only the pick of the Army that handles the dear little pets - 'Tss! 'Tss!

Well, the trip is still ON, but shifted in time a LITTLE - LATE April or early May.

More time to plan and learn a little more German and Hungarian.

I did ask a coworker from Budapest, but unfortunately he hasn't been there for years and doesn't recall any cannons.  It does sound like fun, though.

Thanks for asking!

I'm just now back from Guadalajara.  Good to be back from a SOLID week of working, eating and sleeping.  Not much else.

Budapest in  -  hmmm - they'll make the decision Monday.

A friend of mine is from there and is going back for a while in a couple weeks. I'll shoot her an email and see if she knows any good cannon spotting areas. Of course, by the time I get an answer from her...I'll probably be on another continent as well!
