218 Bee

I hit an estate sale and picked up a bunch of reloading supplies

In this was 160 once fired 218 Bee brass.
I do not know anything about this round but
it looks like a fun and cheap round to go play with.

Should I look at getting a barrel for my contender or sell off the brass.
Any input as to barrel length (I like long) or what kind of range and accuracy
would be great.

The Bee is a sweet little round, more sting than a Hornet with half the bark of a .223. I've only used it in rifles and can't tell you what to expect from a shorter barrel, nor do I know what is available from T/C at present, the 218 Bee is seldom heard of these days.

Mike: The late Bob Milek was very fond of the Bee in a Contender. I think he preferred the 14-inch barrel.

All rounds are fun.  ;D The .218 Bee get the same velosities with all weight bullets as the K-Hornet according to my Sierra manual. It is a good 175 yrd. groundhog round and with alittle work and a range finder could be streched to 250.

Get a barrel. I'd recommend a 12-14".

UPDATE ::)
I had just looked at the head stamps.
I was looking in the Lyman Handbook today
and came to realize they are necked down to .1725
Can you say Ackley 17 BEE ;)

I think I need a barrel.
I am inventorying all this stuff now so I can sell off what I don't need
and then I'll post a wanted add in the classifies.

Dang, another barrel, set of dies, more bullets, more powder.
Sure glad I'm saving all this money by loading :D

The 218 Bee I might of been able to help you with both a barrel and dies.   For the 17AB you'll be looking at custom barrels.

I may be very interested in a barrel and dies
but I need to move the supplies I don't need first.

I had a guy call me Monday saying he wanted all the brass
and was trying to gather up the money
