other than buying a scanner, what are my options for turning my prints into digital media?  My friends at the gun-and-pawn, and bait-and-tackle don't have scanners either.  I guess you can tell that I don't get out in the public very much.

A lot of photo developers will now put your 35 mm film on floppy or CD.  Also there are internet cafe's and places like 'Mailboxes and More', Kinkos places like that, that will scan your pictures for you and put them on disk.
....make it count

BF,

I have a scanner, didn't cost that much,  but I bought at a time when scanners were way cheaper than digital cameras.  My computer is a 7 year old 200 Meg Pentium, maxed out ram, 2.6 gig HD, and it just won't support much hardware anymore.

In a few weeks I am going to up grade my Computer. I am going to start all over again, and instead of a scanner  I am getting a digital camera.
I am going to keep the old rig running with the scanner.

If you drop by Wally World and look around you will find that digital camera can be had  rather inexpensively.

And even better I heard on the radio by Christmas there is suppose to be a disposable digital camera coming out.

BF - Both Robert and Double D have some very viable ways for you to get your pictures on the Internet.   Scanners are butt cheap now days - digitals are getting there.   As for having them put on disk... just having the film processor do it can get a little expensive as they will do all the frames on the roll, and if you are anything like most of us, get some    "what the heck is that" kind of pictures mixed in with the good ones.    Having them put on disk after developing would at least allow you to only pay for those that you do really want to be Internet ready.

That said, the purpose of this forum isn't just to post pictures on.   Discussions on techniques, equipment, photo ops, whatever has a solid place on this forum, and they would add greatly to some activity on the forum... maybe make it interesting enough to bring in some new blood.

One species has evolved into obese cranial fatheads with thin skin in comparison that whines about anything and everything as their shield against their environment. Meus
