Howdy!...
« on: June 21, 2008, 10:07:06 AM »
Long time lurker, long time H&R aficionado. You guys have been very helpful in the past.

I was looking at the H&R site and noticed that there are apparently 2 types of synthetic Ultra stocks? Some of the pictures show the usual Monte Carlo plain plastic stock that Choate has been making for years but on some of the guns they show a nicer looking synthetic Monte Carlo stock with checkering on the pistol grip and forend and sort of a semi schabnol (sp) forend and what appears to be a real recoil pad. Have they changed vendors or something? The reason I ask is that I've got a stainless 30-06 on order and was wondering which stock I was going to get.

Welcome aboard Dave! Be sure to let us know!! As far as I know, the new syn stocks have only been reported on the 357 and 44 mags so far, but we'd be glad to see them switch over to the new style, although now that Limbsaver makes recoil pads for the old style syn stock, hopefully the new pad will be a good one.

welcome Dave to GBO, let us know what type of stock and forend you get, like Tim said it may be on the new 357 and 44 cal rifles, i have not seen either one so i do not know about the stocks, but i would like to have a synthetic schnabel style forend if they are making them.

I requested 2 new Syn stocks to be fitted to the frames I sent back to have 357 barrels fitted to.  I'll let ya'll know what and when I get them back.  I sent in 2 copys of the order sheet as well as taping what I wanted to each frame.  Hope they do the triggers as I requested, still not sure enough of my mechanical apptitude to do much more than change barrels and stocks ;D

AtlLaw, glad to hear you're better, enjoy your posts.  How bad did you rip the Dr. when he nixed the beer and cigs? :o ;D
