« on: June 17, 2008, 07:50:13 AM »
I recently purchased a Contender g2 in 410-45 long colt any one hand load for the 45 colt what would be a good Whitetail load were shots are 50 yds or under? New to the contender sene but sure I'll like them.
                                                          ThankYou

Most loading manuals list  loading data for Ruger & T/C's, you might ask in the cast bullet section for the loading data for a T/C,

Try searching this forum for 45/410.  You will find a lot of info on these barrels.

The main problem people have with shooting the 45 Colt, is the long jump the bullet has to make to engage the rifling.

I read a post years back about using 9.3x74R rifle brass with 45 caliber pistol bullets.

45/410 Contender = 11.4x74R Wildcat

You can also buy brass cases for the .410. I built a .410 with a .411 Douglas barrel on a Moslin Nigant action but in Oh. they won`t let me use all brass cases. Aonther way to go would be to use .405 win. brass. It is the same lenth as 2 1/2 in 410 cases and uses LR primers. I would also recomand Lead Head bullets. I have pushed their hard cast gas checked bullert to abt 2,600 fps. with no leading.
