Impressive Epoxy

I discovered another epoxy for barrel fitting that would be particularly good for those that use epoxy only with no shim, Goop Superweld, it has a compressive strength of 36kpsi, compared to 10.7kpsi for JB Weld, 14kpsi for JB Stik and 8260psi for Devcon.

I added the epoxy spec sheets to my barrel fitting info last week after using some of their Marine Fast Fix to repair the drain on my 70yr old bathtub!! ::) ;D

I was looking at their website and noticed one of their products, Coat-It, is what I use on my driftboat hull and JOE'S carries that product (in sporting goods dept.).
Is that where you found the Superweld?

I bought the FastFix at Fishermans sometime last year, called around and didn't find the Superweld locally, so I just ordered it online, even with shipping is was less than $23 for two, online prices were close to $10 each plus shipping except for Creative. Joes might carry it, but with gas at $4.36 a gallon, and traffic the way it is, I'd just as soon order it to my door!! ;D

Tim, I'm a hundred miles from anywhere, and we get most of our needs, other than groceries, on line.  The nearest town is 2 gallons away round trip.  The epoxy is something I want to try soon.  Thanks, Pete

That sucks. We have $3.98 gas and $4.50 diesel. I am getting where I have to order more online because of prices. Ill be trying this soon. Thanks

Or e-gun bill.
We are paying $1.39 a liter that is $5.26 US gal in BC the gas is nearly $1.60
a liter that is $6.o5 a Us gal. This is pretty bad. Crude is to be soon at $200
a barrel. Man that is going to nearly stop all transportation. There wont be anymore fruit coming from California to Canada.

The Chinamen may make all this cheap stuff but when it hits the American shore. Who will be able to afford the fuel for distribution. Walmart and other
big distributors will have to quit doing business, nobody will be able to afford
the prices. It is a vicious circle.

Due to the daily absorption of 7200 tons carbon dioxide from the air into the oceans, is poisioning the oceans killing live in the the water. PH has increased by 30% in only very few years. Things are not getting any better the way we
live.

Food, gas, utilities,reloading componets(stuff) don't look like we're in for a good year.  And I doubt like hell this November is gonna change anything for the better.  Fred, my wife, mother in law and all 7 kids just headed to Richmond, B.C. this afternoon.  Hope she doesn't loose the CC, cause I didn't give her enough cash to buy gas to get back home.  Are you anywhere close to Richmond?  I've never been and couldn't get away from work to go with them.  DP.

Last year my Wife was in France and lost her credit card, I managed to get here another by FedEx in two days (cost me $60.00), this year she is in Turkey, don't thik it would be as easy to fix things there.  Good luck, at least my Wife didn't have 7 kids with her!  Larry

Richmond is near Vancouver on the lower mainland in BC. I am on the other side of the Rocky Mountains the east side that is. I have two daughters living in Vancouver BC. There are 700 miles betwen Vancouver BC and Calgary Al where I live.

Hi Fred!

Lovely town, Calgary.  Spent a night there one winter heading East, then tried to beat a blizzard.  We ended up having a very interesting night in Gleichen (sp?) on the edge of the Indian reservation.  They had an Oriental restaurant there, Thai IIRC, which served outstanding food.

Say, what is smokeless powder made from?  Is it another of the petrochemicals, so we can watch the price double on it also?

Hey, Tim.  I have a 243 barrel that looks like someone took a file to the latch shelf and got one side lower than the other.  Barrel pops open 80% of the time.  (No, I'm not the one who did it, I sold the gun and got it back.  Guy claims he didn't touch it.)  Do you think this stuff would work for repairing that, or is there something else to try?  I never shot the barrel before, and won't do it now as it makes me real uncomfortable. (Scared)  DP.  If nothing else, guess I've got a 22" tent stake. ;D  DP.

You could try it, may work, but the best option without welding would be to epoxy a steel shim to the shelf, then file it. I dunno how durable the epoxy would be since the latch is a friction fit, it may not wear well. If it were mine, I would file the shelf as level as I could, then epoxy an appropriately thick shim and work it down to good engagement.  ;) If you know a welder that's good, building it up with weld would be the best option tho if they take precautions to prevent the chamber from getting too hot.

Was over to Lowes in Delta Park for more house stuff, checked Joes while there, they have the Superweld 4 oz kits for $8, stopped at BiMart to check my numbers on the way home, they have the 2 oz kits for $5.XX.
