ok maybe time to get serious again , whats the smallest commercial available fuse ??????
is there anything smaller then 1 mm ??  I know I have seen 1 mm fuse .

Dan, the smallest fuse i have is 1mm . What i did for the pico-gonne is to make the vent as a priming cup. The top is big enough for a 1mm fuse, the bottom of the vent that makes contact with the bore is just a pin hole. Let me know how many thousands of shots you can get from a pound of powder.

approximately 0,2 grain including priming powder  FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFg for each round ,
that means approximately 75 000 rounds per kilo , OK 33 863 shots with an pound .

I lost a few grains when milling it down from ff to ffffffffffffffffff    ;D

ok serious again , could you guesstimate what size from the priming cup to the bore ??

what would be the smallest size that still will be sort of reliable ??
would it be possible to get ignition from an hole of 0,1 mm ??
of course I cant use ffg then  ;-)

Theoretical is right!

0.039" is ROUGHLY the diameter of the head of a pin ....

So to put the original question back in the game, what ratio of bore diameter to fuse hole is needed to only loose, say, 1% of the energy?  Obviously smaller is better.

Dan, i would say it's possible to have a small vent like you want. So here's an experiment you can try. Get a group of different sized HYPODERMIC NEEDLES. Plug one end, drill-file-grind a vent in the side of the needles. Of course you have to make PROJECTILES too!

the needle was an good idea , as Im an diabetic I got plenty of them , they are 0,25 mm in outer diameter and 8 mm long . projectiles aint any problem , I will start making the mould now   ;D ;D ;D

A little bling for the micro...

Rummaging through my junk, I found a brass torch hose ferrule with a 7/16" ID that matches the OD of my micro-gonne tiller...

I had to ream the end hole for the ferrule to slip over the 3/8" pilot on my tiller, otherwise it was a perfect fit.



The ferrule slips on and then the barrel is screwed into place. The lip on the ferrule is clamped between the rear of the tiller socket and the shoulder cut into the wood.





There are numbers stamped into the brass that I usually turn toward the bottom. I didn't do it this time because I was in a hurry and forgot. Under normal circumstances the numbers aren't noticeable, anyway.




You may remember that I was having problems with my old two megapixel Samsung camera recently. It finally gave up for good last week.

So now I'm on the learning curve of a new one, a six megapixel HP. It has the potential for great photos but I'm going to have to get the feel of it first. I'd used the old camera for so long it had become second nature.
