Winchester 94 Ranger Centennial

I just ran across a Winchester 94 Ranger 30-30 that is the 100th anniversary model with 1894-1994 engraved on the receiver.  I know the Ranger model is the low priced model 94, but this is the first anniversary one I have seen.  The gun has not been shot much at all and is in excellent shape.   Is $300 too much for this gun.

yeah that's good price considering i got $600 for my used  45colt trapper just because some guy couldn't live without it . buy it and shoot it . Most but not all model 94 anniversary / commemorative's  aren't really worth anything more than a shooter. If you checkout the list of  anniversary / commemorative's  they have made you might think they made more of those than the regular 94's. superdown

$300 is an entirely decent price on a nice condition used lever action rifle any time. If it's something you want I'd say go for it. Don't look on it as an investment that you'll make a huge profit on as it's not but it's worth that as a shooter if that's the gun you want.

I agree 300 bucks is a good price for any lever action 94 30-30 in nice condition.  Beats most prices around Michigan anyways.   It would be hard to find a nice 30-30 here for 300 bucks at any of the gun stores.  Several months ago I paid almost 100 bucks more than you did for a 94 in real nice condition,  and I've been shooting it quite a bit, so I guess it was worth it to me.

Boy am I glad I still live in WV.  $300 for a Ranger is a pretty tall price here in WV.  I just bought a 1957 model in good shape for $225 a few weeks ago.  I think I will stay here in WV.  Tom.

Winchester marked every Model 94, made in 1994 on the receivers "1894-1994", so none of them are "Anniversary" rifles in the sense that they  are collectible or commemoratives.

They are just "shooters", that happened to be made that year, and should be valued according to condition, config, & local/regional demand - just like any other Model 94 from the year before or after that.

In today's market, $300 is a very reasonable price to pay for any Model 94 in good condition.

There'll always be someone, somewhere, who "got one just like it" for only half, etc, etc - but that's not the norm.

You can find winchester 94's on gunbroker for that price.  I usually double check any gun pricing against what they go for there as a reference.

Well................Just keep in mind, when comparing online prices with the tags in a gunshop:

The online price is a fairy tale, to which $30 shipping & (?) $$ receiving FFL fees must be added.

The gunshop's price is usually negotiable.

It makes more sense to support a local business - or it may no longer be there, when you need something else.

I have bought some stuff online, but most of my business goes through an honest Mom & Pops kind of place.  Definatley keep in mind the shipping, taxes, and FFL transfer fees when looking at online prices!
