iran problem
« on: July 02, 2008, 05:58:04 PM »
this is one of our making for helping overthrow the shah (thanks jimmy)and thanks to France for hiding Khomeini for years.  israel will not allow them to build a bomb make absolutely no mistake about that fact. The U.S. can't allow them to take any action it will cause a meltdown of all Arab countries and the U.S. will be blamed because of our support of Israel, there goes any chance of the Arabs taking care of the problem, and any use of land based forces because we'll be denied bases in the region. our forces are wore out from a two front war now (didn't anyone learn anything from Hitler and napoleon) We can't open another front and an attack by our forces would have to be from Iraq and we just don't have the boots on the ground or the armor in the region to get the job done. If they do get it developed all they have to do is put it in a rusty freighter and detonate it in any American harbor, our generals think of ICBMs as the only delivery system that will work (they are that stupid or short sighted) Just thinking and wondering what others are thinking on this subject.
the nation that forgets it defenders will itself be forgotten

I'd say that Israel has made pre-emptive attacks work quite well.  They have most of the Arab nations scared shitless.  The Arabs yell, and strut, and preen but that's only for show. Kinda like our pols up for reelection.  It's expected.

detente is a french word meaning, "I'll pretend to be your buddy whilst I'm finding a bigger rock."

Tell me, TM, how are you wired in to all of this little known, behind the scenes, intell that isn't available to us unwashed?

IMO, the way to stabilize the ME is to kick the cameramen and touchy-feely talking heads off the Marine squads and let the Jews of Israel off their leash.  Instead of 12 days, a say 30 day news black out ought to take care of it. The "Palestinian Situation" was created only because Arafat was too stupid to learn how to drive a cab. Don'tchaknow. :D

Trying to fix the blame for all the Middle East problems on so-called neocons is a silly notion.  First of all, what, or who the hell is a neocon.  As I remember it, it was the Dumbycrat leaders who first advocated the overthrow of Saddam.  Of course they didn't say just how that was to be done and that is par for the course for those neolibs.

It seems that some have forgotten how quickly the libs jumped on the bandwagon when Saddam was captured and how quickly they jumped back off when things went a little sideways and we had to step things up and delete some more of the trouble makers.

This silly propaganda about how tired and stretched our military is and that we just can't handle another front is pure stupidity.  The army might be getting a little tired, but I'm betting if they were free to do what they do best (kill people and break things) that mess would be over with in short order.  On the other hand, our Air Force and Navy haven't begun to show their stuff.  I say we should turn loose just one carrier on Iran--if need be and the fight would be over before they (Iran) knew it was on.  Better yet, let one sub take care of it.

I know, it's easier to say all this than it is to do it, because of politics.  And that is really the root of all our problems.  If you're going to fight a war, fight it with the best, most efficient means you've got and to hell with the politics.  You might piss a lot of people off, but you probably would only have to do it once.  Besides that, a lot of people are pissed off now and the problem ain't fixed.

The day will come when someone or some country will detonate a WMD on American soil.  We won't be able to stop it.  Heck, we can't even stop the drugs and illegals that stream across our borders.  How are we going to eliminate even one suitcase nuke (do they really exist?) from finding its way to our shores?

So... Someone blows up one of our cities and we in turn will blow up that someones country?  If we can't figure out which country that someone belongs to, will we target a convenient country just to make a point?

The end result of all this will be (after other nuclear powers get involved) population control on a worldwide scale.

911 was a tragic day in the history of our country.  We lost three thousand people.  Subsequently, we have lost close to five thousand sons and daughters in Iraq and who knows how many in Afghanistan.  In addition, how many innocent people have perished in our war on terror?  What has it done to our economy?  At what point do we say we've had our pound of flesh?

Bring our military home to protect our borders.  And not only against terrorists but the above mentioned illegals and drugs.  A defensive position at home makes more sense than running around in circles, in foreign lands, looking for the guys with "T's" on their foreheads.  Sometimes, circling the wagons makes more sense both economically and strategically than a full frontal assault.

But we can't do that.  Can we.  We have to show everyone our might.  We haven't learned a damn thing from history.  And that's sad.  Our sons and daughters will continue to pay the price for our country's ego.

And... Will we need special catalytic converters in order to utilize the refined contaminated oil?  Or will those with bicycles and horses become the new elite?

I think the reason that drugs can't be stopped is because a lot of very high up's  in the finanical and political world control and profit from it. I just can't see a gang banger from the ghetto organizing and controlling a billion dollar business.

TM7  Right on ! At least to what I understood in plain language in regards to the ME.

Re Drug smuggle, one of the big reasons for that to keep going is the fact that a whole bunch of law enforcement folks make a nice chunk of money from this. If that problem would get solved, the funding would stop and  some people would loose their nice well payed jobs.
What is the point of Life if you can't have fun.

Too true.  Just like Prohibition.  Too many politicians, too many elected law "enforcemnt" officials, too many judges have been elected with drug money; too much money being made by lawyers.  And what they REALLY, REALLY like about it is it's delivered at night, in a plain brown wrapper, AND IT'S TAX FREE.
