10 inch vent rib 44 mag with flip up sights.

i have a question about a barrel.  The barrel is a 10 inch vent rib 44 mag with flip up sights.   I have never seen one of these.  Guy says it is a rare barrel.  wants 250 for it.  Is this a good deal.  I have never seen one of these barrels before.  The back sight folds down in the rib.

's a hotshot barrel, it was designed to shoot shot shells with an internal choke or 44's with out the choke. my opinion it's worth some where around $125 to $150

 I have the same barrel in the .357. I bought it before I new any better. I would NOT do it again. You know what they say about hind sight. Beside that $250 will buy a barrel of about any caliber for the Contender.

The hotshot capsules(loaded or not)were only available from TC and were disconntinued years ago.  They show now and again on ebay, at collector prices of course.  You can use Speer's .44 shot capsules but they don't hold as much shot.  Shooting full house mag rounds in it gets way past my threshold of pain.....RECOIL!  GOOD SHOOTIN',  Walt  :)

I sold mine for $75 to the first guy at the gun show that offered to buy the thing. The recoil is rough and when you take the choke out youlose at least 1" of rifling. It was just a pain. I wouldn't have had it but it came on the frame.
