I put Reflex red dot sights on mine and its a very fun shooting little pistol. Wife loves the dot sights as well and can burn up a brick of bulk ammo in no time. I have a Pentax on it right now and while it shoots good and fast accurately out to 20 yards but out @25-30 the pistol is just not made to be all the accurate IMO. My IZH 35M will outshoot it all day with open sights but it is a true target pistol.
Your right about them being perfect little pocket pistols. Mine has both barrels and the short one is pretty accurate for being so short. but the extra bit of barrel adds to the accuracy but why they call it a target model I have no idea.
I have had a few FTF issues and I think it was mainly cheap bulk ammo lots. The occasional stove pipe etc as well but I bet I have 10000 rounds through it as well by now. I do find plated or jacketed bullets work the best versus round nose soft lead, had major issues with that causing leading of the barrel MAJOR.
Besides that it is a fun little pistol and the wife loves it so I let her think it's hers
One thing I have noticed is the need to give the slide a quick clean every 500 rounds or so of ammo thats a bit dirty to keep the slide moving smoothly otherwise it tends to not fully engage to battery when cycling after the shot. Usually you can tell it needs it when you drop the slide on the 1st round and it doesn't close all the way.
Lots of info on rimfire central about them and what to watch out for. There have been some slides breaking and other issues but they all seem to be taken care of without problem. Mine had the set srcew for the fake muzzle break/weight loosen up while shooting and slowly hammered the set screw till it was canted. Not sure if its worth sending it off, might just drill and tap the hole for a larger set screw.
Red dots are the way to do for sure. Even the cheap little NC Star I got off ebay for $20 was good enough to make it a fun shooter. My biggest pet peeve is how the ejection of the spent cases is inconsistent and many come right back at the shooter. When this happens with the mount over the slide it tends to bounce the empty down jamming the slide when cycling.
