Colt 45 Single Action Army
« on: June 29, 2008, 11:15:34 AM »
I recently came into possession of a new in the box, unfired,  Colt Single Action Army in Colt 45, 4 3/4" barrel, blued, etc. manufactured last year.  The cool thing about it is that  this Colt has a black powder frame and bullseye ejector rod. I am told it is a custom shop special.  I had no idea that Colt even offered these.  Does anyone have any idea what it might be worth?

All Colt SAA's have been Custom Shop (as opposed to catalog items) for some years.  Ditto on Loyd's $.

How does one tell a Generation 1 Colt SAA, from a Generation 2 or Generation 3?  Are there distinguishing characteristics or serial number ranges to which I can refer?

Thanks for the info; that's a very interesting web site.  I guess the followup question is:  are the parts interchangeable between second- and third-generation revolvers?  I.E. can I put a third-generation barrel on a second-generation frame or a second-generation cylinder on a third-generation frame.

OK, from that site I see that my .45 Colt serial number 95300SA was made in 1978, but I can't find my New Frontier 08200NF listed. Then, how do you tell 1st, 2nd or 3rd generation?
