Good night At the PAylake
« on: July 17, 2003, 01:22:53 PM »
Me and a couple of buudies went to the paylake the other night and had a good one. One of my buddies had never caught a big cat, but he landed a 25 lb. blue about 1 hr. after dark. Then I landed a 31 pounder and my other buddy landed a 27 lb. flathead. Pretty good night in my books.  All were caught on live bluegill.

Thats an excellent night, I want to know how much it costs you to fish at a pay lake, and if the fish fight as hard as wild fish.  Do you bring your own bluegills, or do you have to buy them from the proprietor.  How big of a lake is it? Do you ever go there and get skunked? Do you get to keep those big cats, or do you have to release them?  At first glance I don't think I would enjoy fishing at a pay lake because of a percieved lack of challenge. But, I have never seen, nor experienced one, so I'm not going to make up my mind until I have more Info.  Did you take any photos, I love to see other folk's hunting and fishing photos. If there is any way for you to get those photos on this site, hurry up about it. We need more cat photos, because I'm tired of looking at my own. I want to see some other peoples cats from all over the country.   Well anyway good job on catching those big cats, and I look forward to hearing about more adventures from you.

At the paylake I go to you pay 10$ to get in and get to catch 8 fish or eight hours of fishing. They have two lakes: One is a big lake that they stock most of the farm raised channell cats in, but there are a few blues and flatheads in that one. You keep everything you catch in this lake, but the other lake is the trophy lake. It is stocked with mostly blues and flatheads, but it is also stocked with farm raised channells. Anything over 15 lbs. has to be released unless you want to pay by the lb. The biggest in the trophy lake is a 74 lb. flathead, and the biggest in the other lake is a 62 lb. blue. You can't bring your own LIVE bluegill however you can catch them out of the paylakes for free. The fish give very good fights especially the blues and flatheads, because they have all been caught out of rivers and lakes and relased in the paylakes.

Catch 8 fish for $10......I don't think i would do it.
Suppose it's a good night and you're done in an hour or two!?!?
or if you went in for some bass and caught 8 fish right off of the shore like you should.
I'm sorry......I wouldn't pay for something that god put on this earth.
That's exactly like paying for bottled water!!!!! :x

Youngsters don't know what a pay lake is. I think it might be a pretty good place to kindle a fire in the belly love of hunting and fishing that most of our kids need these days.  Any thing is better than the Idiot box and video games.

my kids won't have enough time to fish, hunt, watch TV or even play video games. They will be raking, mowing, cleaning and whatever else i can find them to do. :)
And after that, they should have big enough muscles to drag in some big cats!!! 8)
Honestly though, from the time they are born they will be out in the woods with me. But thats not for a few years yet being i'm 18!!!
Then we'll take a trip down to your place so you can show us some giant out of state catties!!

I guarantee that if you brought your young-uns all the way out here the only thing we would catch would be blugills and drum. Then the day after you leave I would catch a live well full of 30 lbers. That the way it all ways works when i try to show off for somebody.

same with me.
This year i was with a friend on the first day of trout and we nearly caught our limit in a small stream we both like to fish. We would have been done in half an hour if we didn't throw the smaller legal ones back. But i'm not about to gut a 7" trout.
Anyway,  i suggested a stream that i have caught some fish in the previous year and we went and tried it out. Well, we didn't catch a darn thing. It seems like when someone takes me fishing, we nail them.....but when i take someone to a spot i like, we never get a bite.
