Savage 12BVSS

I have a new Savage 12BVSS in 22-250. I am having some trouble and am looking for any info you guys may have. If I remove the front bolt that holds the stock on the stock comes about 3/8 of a inch off the barrel and it takes about 25 lbs. of preasure to push the stock back down...
Has anyone else had this problem
I am thinking about skin bedding the action..
Can you tell me if you think this will help??
The factory pillars are set below the wood so they are not amounting to much..
The rifle will shoot .500 groups at 200 yds. but as the gun cools down I have to keep moving my sight....

I'm assuming you are talking about a Savage factory stock, if so, I would send it back or replace it with a aftermarket stock.  I believe I would do that anyway.  I for one don't like factory stocks.  If you need some suggestions on what stock to buy I will be glad to give them to you.

It shouldn't take 25lbs. to push the action/barrel down into the stock and if the pillars are below the stock then they are not during you any good.  I would say that is why you are not grouping after the barrel cools down.

Just got one myself, in .300 WSM.  Great gun.

Sorry to learn of your problem. No such difficulty here.  I think Savage owes you a new stock.  Hope your problem is a one-of-a-kind thing, for Savage's sake, and that it's easily and quickly fixed, for yours.

Try e-mailing or 'phoning the Savage Customer Service Dept.  If they have 1/2 a brain, they'll help you in a jiffy.  Address/number should be in the paperwork you got with the rifle.
