Am seriously wanting a .45 LC lever rifle.
Anybody have any opinion on the above choices?
Will the Puma 454 Casull also reliably chamber, fire and eject 45 LC?
Help appreciated.

The old saying goes, there were more Winchesters in the old west because they couldn't afford Marlins. Marlin quality has spoken for itself for many decades here in America!

My Puma 454 works perfect with all 45 Colt rounds I've put through it. Only Henrys I have are 22 and 22 mag, so can't tell on that. 454 Puma is the smoothest center fire lever I have, only thing close is and old Marlin in 35 rem.

I'm pretty sure they're made in Brazil. I favor the Puma / Rossi as I'm a fan of the 92 action due to it's inherant strength. That said I own Marlins and Winnys too..

Unless Henry has slipped on in on me since I last looked (entirely possible) they don't make a .45 Colt rifle but do a .44 Magnum.

I've owned the Marlin Cowboy .45 Colt and now a pair of the Rossi's so chambered. Hands down I'll take the Rossi over the Marlin. I wasn't able to hit the broad side of a barn with the one I had with any load I tried in it. At 50 yards I couldn't even keep it on an 8.5"x11" target sheet. Both Rossi's are superbly accurate and will stack the bullets into a ragged one hole group. Maybe I just had a lemon I dunno but for me I'll stick with my Rossi for now.

If I just had to put a scope on tho the Marlin would have to be the choice but since I plan to use only irons the Rossi is fine.

I've got a Rossi/Legacy Sports/Puma 44mag. It's a nice rifle and handles well.

I also have a Marlin 30-30 and it's a fine rifle too. It's pretty hard to go wrong when you're buying a levergun.

I have 7 Marlins and all are very accurate , especially the 336 in 35 rem using cast bullets .
I use mine for hunting and the are solid and reliable brush guns , no regrets .

I have a safe full of Leverguns ,I've never had any luck with Marlin 1894's,The Pumas I have and had all have been winners ,If you can find a Winny 94 in 45 Colt that would be sweet...
But a Puma 454 is the way to go. 45's for plinking and 454's for a mini 45/70.

This is late but I have a 94 Win., AE, in the 45 colt that I put a K-1.5 on. Had to put a recoil pad on to keep from pounding my nose with my thumb.

Still haven't learned to keep the thumb on the side.

Also have a 92 Puma in 454 that I love!

Takes stiff 45's as well as 454's in stride. Smooth and accurate, and really like the option of feeding the rounds through the gate or right in the tube. The stock recoil pad seems to work just fine, recoil isn't a problem. Did I mention smooth?

Like 'em both, prefer the Puma. DP.

Have gotten rid of two Marlin 94's for rough feeding and pitiful accuracy. Their 94CL's (.32-20 and .25-20) are great. Winchester 94's were designed for a longer cartridge and develop feeding problems with pistol length rounds. Their accuracy has been mediocre at best. My keepers are Rossi's.

There really is no "Puma" website as such. That's just a name that one importer LSI applies to the guns they import. Several other companies also import the guns which are made by Rossi regardless of the importer.

Do a search for Legacy Sports International and you should come up with their site. They are also imported by EMF and Taylors and perhaps others.

I have 3 Henry's 22Lr Golden boy 22 Mag. and 44mag big Henry. I have marlin 25-20 30-30 32 win special Ruger 22- 250 number 1 and a Mossberg SSI one in 30-06. Money wise the marlins are the best buy and also have a great finish if you buy the ones with real walnut wood and cut checkering. I also love the SSI one and am sorry they are no longer made, would like to have a 223 barrel for it. I have the sporter model and at 450.00 new it was a good price. I got lucky at the last gun show and found the one I have new out the door for 275.00. I still kick myself for passing up a new marlin in 444 cut checkering fine walnut stock Ballard rifling's and a set of 100.00 sights out the door for 400.00, like the old song says what was I thinking, must not have been

oh well there is a gun show this weekend and also next weekend may get another chance

I can't comment on the Henry rifles but I do have a fair amount of experience with Puma, Winchester and Marlin lever rifles.

I would say that the fit and finish of the Marlin surpasses all the others hands down.

The only reason I sold my Marlin 1894 CB in 45 Colt was because it wasn't stainless steel and I am switching all of my firearms over to black/gray laminate stocks/grips.

If Marlin made a s/s 1894 in 45 Colt I would have never let it go I found my CB to be exceptionally accurate and fast to use it also held 13 45 Colts in the mag tube.

I do have a LSI Puma M92 in 454 Casull that is also very accurate for a lever rifle it is just that the fit and finish has a lot to be desired.

It also feeds every 45 Colt load from 200gr RN cowboy loads to 355gr WLNGC's bear stoppers the only issue I have when shooting 45 Colts is the point of impact is amazing lower than the same bullet weights in 454 Casull.

Picked up a Ruger SRH in .454, so the logical companion was a Levergun in .454...

The only one on the market is a Puma 92 in .454, so I set out on yet another search and put a deal together on one.

I am expecting delivery next week.... Been poking around a bit, low and behold I can put a Wide Loop on it as well as rig it with a Scout Mount...

Man, I am looking forward to taking this light weight boomer into the woods after some Custom Work...

I'll post the pics as I get it...

I also ended up with a Puma 92 in .454. I would like to replace the sights, my old eyes just don't work too good anymore, but can't find any tang or receiver sights to fit.
Don't want to go with the scout mount, but i may have to.

I'm using the stock sights on the 454, but on the 44 mag I've got a Williams peep. The 357 is a Oct. barreled pup that has the front sight waaay out there, so I can see it, too. Had to put in a taller front sight to get it to point of aim, then had to stake it in as the dove cut was off for the Marble sight. Can't even tell I pushed the top of the cut down to hold it tight. If the eyes get much worse I'll have to get peeps for them too. Anyone seen anything about StevesGuns having a peep to fit in the safety hole on the bolt ready for sale yet? That will be sooo much smoother looking than the Williams hanging off the side.

Talked to him (e-mail) last week. He has couple of different sights available. Said he could maybe get to my gun by October or November.
I want to hunt with it this year, so I am going to try and find other options.
What Williams peep did you use?

Just the plain ol Williams, 5D I think it is. Have to use a screw driver to loosen the slides to change the settings. Thats ok for now as I have a few hundred of the loads yet to shoot. It does well enough I may not change the load, 240g hornady with max load of H-110. That has brought down a lot of deer for me. DP
