Dan Wesson Supermag Disassembly
« on: October 26, 2008, 03:17:55 PM »
Hello all!  I'm new to the forum and need some help.  I'm having problems finding disassembly instructions for my .357 Max Supermag.  Can anyone point me in the right directions?  I've found instructions for model 15-2 but not for the supermag.  I can't figure out how to get the crane and cylinder out of the frame.  I'd sure like to find a site with step by step disassembly instructions!

I also have a 357max and if you go back a ways you'll find detailed reassembly instructions from me as told to me by a smith at CZ.  You have to remove the trigger group and then you can acess the crane retainer ring and remove it with a jeweler's or small screwdriver and the crane should pull forward, place at least 2 spent shells in the cylinder and restrain the ejector rod in a padded vice and unscrew the cylinder from the ejector rod and the cylinder will be released from the crane; be careful of the extractor spring as it can spring out and away.  There is an allen screw on the Rt. rear of the frame that is used to trap the main spring; you unscrew it from the frame and place it in the bolt hole at the base of the tang and with the hammer cocked you tighten the allen screw to trap the mainspring to facilitate removal of the trigger group.

Thanks blhof!  One question, I was able to unscrew the cylinder from the ejector rod pretty easily when disassembling by hand without the use of a vise.  Is that a problem?  Is hand tightening it during reassembly going to cause any problems?
