Recoil Pad
« on: July 10, 2008, 02:45:23 PM »
I ran across a new recoil pad that is supposed to fit a H&R shotgun stock.   Would that mean it could fit a rifle stock also?
Will that bow kill an elk?     Sure.....but arrows are much more effective.

If you're referring to the Limbsaver 10003 and 10601, they may or may not fit, see Handi/Ultra Recoil Pads in the FAQs, they're discussed in the links in that thread.

This wasn't a Limbsaver brand. This one used Sorbothane rubber, like what is used in shoe cushion pads. Probably a similar material but a different brand.  I was wondering if the shotgun buttstock had different end dimensions than a rifle stock.  Supposed to be a drop-on.  The brand is Kick-EEZ.  They list their part KZ-106 as fitting a Harrington/Richards SB2-988 Slug Hunter.  They also list grind-to-fit versions and slip-over types with inserts.

When you've had a few H&Rs and do a little stock swapping, you'll learn the wood stocks aren't all identical, the pads are individually fitted, so they vary quite a bit, the best thing to do is trace your butt  :o and compare the tracing to the pad you want to try, Limbsaver has templates of all of their stocks on their website, just print them to scale following their instructions and compare.  ;)

If you don't want to risk getting a pad that is too small...or you want to grind it down a bit, I put a Kick-Eez on my 45-120 and it is bar none the best pad I have ever used.  It did take a good bit of grinding, but finished up looking great.

I use the slip on "Sissy pad" from Walmart on my Pardner 12 gauge.  You can always slip it off when you are through for the day if you don't like the way it looks.
