I recently purchased a Kimber Compact CDP II and have taken it to the range twice, putting about 250 rounds through it. Actually, the first few mags I put through it went fine. Then I kept having this problem where the slide would not fully cycle. It always stopped about 1/8 inch short. Just slight pressure from my thumb was enough to push it forward, so I could fire the next round. It began doing it every round. I purchased a Wilsom Combat mag, cleaned the gun and went back to the range today. Same thing happened. At first it was every round, then after a while, it happened on about two rounds for each mag. I tried three different brands of standard velocity ammo, all 230 gr. ball, and it was the same for all.
Would a stronger recoil spring take care of this problem? The stock spring is 22 lbs, but I see Wilson makes a 24.
I really more of a revolver guy, so any help is appreciated!
Turns out the extractor tension was too high. After adjusting to proper tension, everything runs fine!
