Have a G-2 rifle frame

... but no barrel. I was thinking about something like a .223, but I've been spoiled by Savage bolt guns and really expect 1/2-inch five-shot groups at 100 yards with good handloads. Is this level of accuracy possible with any of the stock TC G2 barrels?

Yes but in my experience NOT with their .223 Remington barrels. I have owned several and have shot with several other folks who have owned TC factory .223 barrels. To date I've yet to see one that will consistently shoot less than one inch at 100 yards even for three shot groups regardless of the load used.

Now the 6 TCU barrels I've owned on the other hand both would easily meet your criteria. Same with 7-30 Waters barrels. I don't know what it is with factory .223 barrels but in my experience they just are not as accurate as I expect them to be.

Depends on what you plan to shoot but everyone I've ever talked to that had a factory Contender barrel in .204 Ruger was most pleased. My sons shot a .512" five shot group the first time out. We don't shoot alot of paper but it consistently rocks prairie dogs out past 300 yds. so I am pretty confident that it still shoots very tight.
