Help with a 2009 Buckmark Camper!!
« on: May 30, 2009, 05:16:40 AM »
Can you help me with my new, never used Buckmark camper?  I just received my camper (2009 model).  When I got it home and took it apart, I had a tough time initially removing the recoil guide, firing pin and recoil buffer (directions were horrible, and I think I am pretty handy with guns).  I also noticed that there were no lock washers on the sight screws (do they not have them on post 2001 models?).

I bent the rod and tried to bend it back but have had a tough time doing so.  The rod seems to be locked in the plastic block and can not be removed (is that the case, if not how do you remove it?).  Is there a place to buy the entire unit?  Does the rod come out?

I love the feel of the buckmark in my hand.  I plan to put a tactical solution rail and ultra dot match on it.

I am going away on a hunting trip and was going to pick up a spare firing pin, spring/rod and that little plastic box.  Any help is greatly appreciated.

Do a search for Buckmark assembly/dis assembly you should find help there. Good luck!

Hmm,  Interesting.  I'm all the time hearing folks praise Buckmarks and bash the Ruger MI and MII pistols because the Rugers are supposedly so difficult to disassemble/reassemble.

Interesting indeed! Never owned a Buckmark, but have owned Rugers since the 60s. Couldn't understand anyone having difficulties with the Rugers, always thought the Buckmarks were even simpler. Apparently not!! I have considered trying a Buckmark, and still might. My Rugers aren't going anywhere tho!!!

Congrats on the new pistol.  The Brownings are great but the manuals are certainly not.  It appears that Browning didn't take the changes made in 2001 into account when printing the Owner's Manuals.  Over the years Browning has alternately told owners how to disassemble / then not to attempt to disassemble the pistols.  So you'll see posts by different people advising both.

If you're comfortable with working on guns and have some mechanical ability they aren't as a co-worker said "rocket surgery" ;D

Without some experience - or real finesse - it's simple for things to go awry.  The most frequent complaint is owners bending the recoil spring guide rod.  On the pre-2001 Buck Marks the slide could simply be lifted off.  There was enough clearance in the parts that the rod would rotate itself free when the slide was lifted.  Starting with the 2001 models a slightly different approach is necessary.

Have a look at some info I put together on these guns:
