Looking for 45 LC Lever

I have a Saur and sons "Western Marshal" single action in 45 colt, and would like to get a lever action that can use the same ammo, but the prices!  Does anyone sell a 45 lever for an affordble price?  I mean, I only spent $200. on the pistol, for crying out loud, and the levers I've seen prices on were nearly $1,000.  Yeouch!

I see new 45 puma levers(a 92 copy) for just under $500 in my neck of the woods(in NC). Seems like I remember the cowboy 45 colts marlin makes are around $650. One thing I'm sure of is you won't get a 45 lever for $200. The days of picking up a 45 winchester for 2 or 3 hundred is gone. Glad I got one a few years back !!

I was hoping to find one for less than/around $500.  I got a great deal on the pistol, wasn't fantasizing about having that kind of luck twice.

Check out the Puma rifles.  They look great.  I am thinking of getting one in 44MAG.

I know what you mean. I got mine for $250 out the door about five years ago. I think I probably got a substantial return on my money for buying that gun.

cost me about 500 bucks out the door for a EMF Hartford model 92 around a year ago or so.

The octagon barrel Marlin 94 in 45 LC, I have two, sells for a heck of a lot more than the round barreled model sold through Big 5 locally. I haven't looked for a year or so, but it might be in your price range. I do like the Marlin over the 92s because of the ease of cleaning- I shoot some BP through mine.

Just got a LSI Puma 45 Colt from Gunbroker for $402 delivered NIB still had the bubble wrap sealed plastic bag around the rifle.

I highly recommend the EMF Hartford if they still don't have the hammer safety. I chose it over the Puma for that reason. They were around the same price also (20" octogon barrell on mine).  I took my 2nd buck with it at 60 yrds thru and thru with Cor-Bon 265 grn hollowpoint. Very accurate at the ranges I shoot. I paid $365 delivered 3 years ago, but times are changing.

   The marlin 1897 cbc the best around,also have winchester in .357 and it broke down three times already.

When I buy oats for my horses, I buy quality oats and I pay a premium price.
I can also buy oats that have already been through a horse.......considerably cheaper.

Could you not save a little longer and get a lever gun that will last generations?
One of my Henrys is chambered in 45LC.......loveitabunch!

I own a Marlin in 44 mag that I harvested several deer with and even trusted it to carry when I was in law enforcement. It would be a great gun in 45 long colt. My .44 had a hammer safety that was replaced with an after market plug and if I had a .45 it would get the same thing. As far as the EMF Hartford and Puma goes I would rather have them than the Henry for the added strength of the actions and I did not like the magazine tube that loaded like a .22 . I handled the Winchesters in .45 and did not care for the model 94 action that was too long for my taste. I did not even consider the Model 73 clones because of the weaker action and the way out there price that mostly start at around $800 for the bottom end selections.

I've got 3 Pumas, 357, 24 in barrel, 44 mag. 20in barrel, and 454 with 20 in barrel.  The 454 shoots 45's just as good and I like the fact the Mag. tube is screwed into the receiver.  Have had to have the 44s tube worked on twice to keep it from moving forward with the recoil.  Still like it, but the 454 is smoother and I kinda like the fact if you want to you can pull the tube and load it like a 22 by dropping those big cases in the tube.  Easier on these old, cracked thumbs.   DP

Added strength in the action? I don't understand. Where?
I'm a retired toolmaker (that's an expensive machinist) and I know a little about fits and tolerances. The actions on my Henrys are excellent.
I bought the Sgt. Major (wifey) a Henry chambered in 357/38. She shoots the 38 round. The only "problem" she ever had was working the action with authority and would get a stovepipe on occasion. All is well now.
I would be very interested to know where this weakness is.

Without knowing all the technical jargan, I checked with several reloader and shooter sources who advised that the model 92 action on the Puma and EMF Hartford would handle the higher pressure loads I use in .45 lc and the Henry wouldn't. I assume it had to do with the brass reciever.  I handled the Henry Bigboy and while the action felt ok I just like the 92's better. In the looks department Henry's don't appeal to me at all except for excellent walnut stocks they all have. Besides I didn't want to spend the extra $200 more it was going to cost. Not knocking the gun it was just not what I wanted in a hunting rifle I carry for hog and deer hunting. jmho
