We seem to have forgotten - read on
« on: July 22, 2008, 03:22:07 PM »
That in the not so distant past , less than a year ago as a matter of fact , it was quite common to have to wait from 6 to 10 weeks or even more for an accessory barrel , that was with a fully operational plant and a staff that had been dealing with the same product for years .

So before we as a collective whole decide that the BIG GREEN is a bad thing for our little Handi's , stop - take a deep breath and count 1-handi 2-handi 3- handi .  ;)

I'm with you on this one.  I agree, give them a chance.  In fact mine is leaving tomorrow for the new factory to see if they can put a barrel on tighter then the last guy did.  It's so loose you can hear it rattle when you carry it  ???

Well said Stimpy, all the griping has really been chappin my hide!! :-X The 2-3 week turn arounds have spoiled a bunch of Handiholics, they don't have a clue that isn't a normal wait. In addition, I honestly can't blame those fitting barrels at H&R in the last couple month for getting an "I don't give a damn" attitude when they were facing unemployment, that can definitely affect product quality.  :-\

I don't have a problem with the wait, but we were hearing 4 weeks 6 weeks ago, and now Remington is talking 4 weeks. Of course the problem is that it is just talk. They could be using US Government standards. Everything in the government takes 2 weeks, which actually means anywhere from 3 months to never.

It doesn't bother me too much as long as it is before deer season in November. Until then, ... that's why I bought a second Handi.

Several years ago,6 maybe, I sent a frame off to have 4 barrels fitted.  After a 2 1/2 mo wait I called and was told they were waiting for the 357 barrels to get my order done.  (Sound familier on 357 barrels?)  I told them to fit what they had in stock and ship them out.  I was a little PO'ed that no one had called to explain it to me that there would be a LOOOONG wait with my order.  Now I just give em a bit of time and then call.  Got a bit pushy in my old age. ;D  DP.  PS. Tim try a product they sell here in Montana called Monkeys Butt. ;D ::) ;D  DP.

It says six to eight weeks on their web site and did when I sent it in. So at this point the actual time involved is not what's bugging me. What is bugging me is that when I first planned to send my receiver in I called and double checked to be sure I was doing everything right. Was told nothing about a change in plants, my receiver getting shipped from Mass to NY, or that it would be getting done by people who were new at it.

When I found this forum and read about all the changes at NEF/H&R I called the CS number to be sure everything was OK. Initially told it was done and on its way to me. when I asked for a package tracking number they realized it hadn't been mailed to me but to New York. It would be two weeks more and receiver was in New York. Called back two weeks later and got told it would be another four weeks. Really worried I'm gonna end up spending blackpowder season spitting lead balls at deer.

Kevin

You do have a valid point , their web site should have been set to let people know that the return time would be much longer because of a plant change and CS should have also informed callers , it may have been a case of they thought that just because they knew - everyone else did too .

Your actually right about that, when I said something to CS about not publicizing th cahnge the response was "it's been well known for some time that remington bought Marlin". How that related to knowing about the closing of the Gardner plant he didn't explain.

Customer service is in Madison NC, the factory is in Ilion NY, it's no secret, it's on their website.  ;) Unless more interest is shown by distributors, there will never be any Handi-mags, those were shot down in January well before the SHOT show when not enough pre-orders were received from distibutors, so Remington/H&R won't spend the $20k on endurance testing of the new frame, until that happens, they're just a dream.  :'(
