Gonic Arms??
« on: August 06, 2003, 07:43:26 PM »
I hear very little about these rifles on the different forums I visit...they are a little of a mysterious creature to me.  The website for the company does'nt seem to work.  But I know a shop here in town that carry these guns and the armorer who run's the place swears by Gonic's as the cream of the crop in the muzzleloading world.  He even has a model (93?) in stock with thumbhole, laminated grey stock and stainless finish that I handled the other day and I must say I was truely impressed.  I'm a little worried about the short (looking) barrel that can't be more than 24".  I'm just wondering....as I know nothing about these guns....are they all they are cracked up to be...or is the Gonic thing just a myth?  Why is it that we see so little Gonic's around? Do they still exist? What would be a fair price for a used (93?) as above?

Thanx

I'm not sure they're still in business...I have this half-memory of them being mentioned in an old digest-type book.
I'll check into it and get back to you...
I ain't paranoid but every so often, I spin around real quick.--just in case
Sometimes I have a gun in my hand when I spin around.--just in case

I have a 14 inch, .45 cal, barrel for my contender.  It is very well made, has provisions for all of the different caps including 209.  Has a ram rod and fore arm.  I wanted the frame and bought the entire thing in box and have never fired it becasue I dislike cleaning Black powder so much.  I may have to take it out and put it on a frame and see how is shoots.
I really don't know much about Gonic Arms, some one enlighten me.
