USH 20 gauge ammo?
« on: July 31, 2008, 05:46:07 AM »
I've got two of them on order and was wondering what you guys have had the best luck with. My boys and I will be using them for deer and most shots will be under 50 yds.

I now own 8 Handis, I think I might have a problem.

Mine is very accurate with the Hornady SST slugs. I bought the gun used and it came with a couple boxes of the slugs that the previous owner recommended. I never tried it with anything else.

I got to try it on a doe in Ohio last year at 60 yards and she dropped like a rock.

Midsouth shooters supply has always had the best price on the 20 ga SSt slugs, even with shipping.

Good luck!

For 50-60yds shots the Lightfield Hybred Exp's or Remington Copper Solids work just fine ,have shot numerous deer in ohio over the

years using either slugs .GL

Lightfields will extend way beyond 50-60 yrds, more like 125-130, with 148 being my longest.  Mike

I have been sighting in my Tracker II 20g using rifled slugs, after researching all the opinions on the web about using cheap rifled slugs in rifled barrels. You should try Winchester rifled slugs and Remington rifled slugs at $8.75/15 at Walmart. I got one dead-on bulls eye at 50 yards, from the bench, no sandbags or rest. I am adding weight to my Tracker II and doing some other cheap recoil reducing modifications, a problem you don't have with the USH. Try the cheap ammo first for your short range shooting, and if it gives a group of 3 inches or less at 50 yards, then go for it and save your money. If you are shooting beyond 100 yards, then give the sabots a try as well.
