I prefer the Hodgdon powders but that is just my preference. I also prefer the way the double base powders meter so I would use H414 - there again just personal preference.

I've used a BUNCH of IMR4350 over the years, loveitloveitloveit!!!    ;D  But, I'm switching over to H now.  Why?  Well, aside from this less temp. sensitive thing, I know how great IMR4350 is, so I just got to try the H4350!   ::)  Kinda like datin' a girl that's gotta twin sister... No matter how good the one you datin' is, sooner or later you just GOT to try out her sister!   ;D  And don't even get me started on getting both powders in one case at the same time...  8)   Everybody knows that's dangerous!   :o

Henry Ford said you could buy his car in any colour............. as long as it was black.  Any of the powders are good........  as long as they end in 4350.  You're on your own when it comes to slippin' aound with twin sisters.  I know lawyers are 'posed to have slick tongues but it wouldn't be my tongue I'd be worrying about. ;)

I've never made a real comparison between IMR and H.  But before heat sensitive was invented, I ran out of I and the small shop I traded at had some H so I bought a can of H.  I knew it was supposed to be slightly slower than the IMR stuff so I just used my IMR load. Nor did I have a Chrony. I figured I might have to adjust my scope a click or two. Nope. Considering my sloppy reloading techniques and poor marksmanship, there wasn't any real world difference. So I just went hunting.

Settled on H414 sold as surplus in the early '80s after trying everything I could find at the time.  This was the same time I acquired my first chronograph and the readings and accuracy were what made my decision.  Besides like was already said, it meters great.

Haven't loaded any 180's in my '06, but I've tried the 4350's (both of them) with 165 grainers and they don't compare to the H414.  Can't beat it for accuracy, speed or metering.

You can never go wrong in the 06 with IMR4350 with 165 and heavier bullets and IMR4895 with the 150. The 06 is very flexible and several powders will work well, but these are the classics and always work. I have been shooting and loading the 06 since the early 60's.

Me too. It ain’t the fastest load on earth, but it doesn’t beat me near as badly as the IMR 4350 does.

All the above powders do a great job.  I have used most of them.

However two years ago I switched to RL22.  This powder really fills the case, and has given an extra 150 fps in velocity.  RL22 has also given me the best SD's.  The next best for SD's is H-414.  A couple of great powders.  Tom.

RL-22 for me...sorry...didn't get much accuracy w H414 or 4350.  I have an incredibly accurate H414 load with 165gr bullets though (at least in my gun.)

IMR had been THE 30-06 powder for many many decades.

Its the only one I use cause it shoots very very well in all guns I load it for.

I am sure the hodgen powder would work just as well, its just I have always used IMR For me it flatly works and there is no reason to try any other.

Gents I stayed with the H4350 but dropped to the 165 grn. bullet and Wala..  Very accurate load and I like it.  Probably stay with the load however I have taken notes on your comment and have them for the future.  Thanks for your help.   Buckfever
