Help With Mink
« on: July 29, 2003, 08:06:03 AM »
Today I went under a bridge to get some dirt so I could pre-sift it for this season. There were mink tracks, or what I thought was mink tracks everywhere. The tracks were kind of rounded with 4 toes I think. They looked like a small cat track.

There really isn't no where to make a pocket set because the mink was staying on land and there is no steep bank. What would be a good land set for a mink using a conibear?  :(

Any help is greatly appreciated. :D

Ky ,if you are going to use a 110, you must look for pinch points. Are there trails in the grass? Can you set tight up against the bridge?
Now may be the time to create these spotd, pull some old logs up,set them parallel with the side of the brige--leave just enough room for your 110.You can also create small tunnels through debris piles.Use your imagination, what better way to spend a nice summer day--prospecting and creating a few set locations.   Tom

So make a steep bank.
Take your shovel down there and dig the bottom, bank, or what ever it takes to make a large mound that will get hard so that you can make a water set there. Put twice as much as you think will be required and you may have something.
Sometimes this is not possible, but sometimes it is an option.
