new model 77 shooter
« on: September 18, 2008, 03:03:53 PM »
found an all-weather m77 mk2 .270 on the shelf at gander last night. they had it marked $299, with a bushnell 2.5-10x40 scope mounted, and a bipod.

couldn't believe they marked it that low and couldn't walk out without it. i have only owned one other ruger rifle and it didn't shoot well so i traded it.

so i am bedding it right now, cleaned it completely last night, it's in great shape, no one has shot this very much.

wish me luck!

Nice grab, Matt!  You never know what will show up on some of those used gun racks.  I've learned the hard way to never walk away from something like that because it will not be there tomorrow when you decide to go back...

The one I owned shot 1000% better with a little foretip pressure.  I used a piece of business card.

I saw a custom Mauser last nite that was wearing a 2-7 Leupold. They wanted $399 for the rifle and scope. If I wasn't as broke as I am, I'd be grinning like a possum this morning! On top of that the rifle was chambered for 257 Improved. All I can do is pout!!

If that scope is the Elite 4200 it alone is worth almost that. After selling it for what it is worth sounds to me like you'd have about the proper value of the Ruger left invested.  :o  ;D

not sure which model the scope is. i have not seen a bushnell like this before. the body of the scope is a smooth metal (aluminum?) and there is no model name anywhere. it is as clear as i have ever seen a bushnell as well. VERY nice scope.

the rifle i just bought because it was dirt cheap and seemed dumb to spend twice that much on building a mauser when this one IS a mauser basically and if i don't like the way it shoots i can bed the action and put a new barrel on and be in business.
