Actually, I just called T/C about this a few days ago and they said the standard Encore base would work on the Encore 20 gauge barrel.  Make sure the screws of the base you choose aren't too long though; you don't want them to hit the bottom of the screw holes in the barrel when you tighten them.

The Screw's that came with the standard mount #9907 are to long..They bottom out and the base rattle's..I emailed T/C, now waiting for an answer....Just my luck. What rings work best for this settup? I have Warne low and med to choose from. It is getting a Nikon Omega on top..(my first Nikon).... I am a real Leupold fan...But I never seen anything like that 5" eye relief. So I am gonna try one out. Thanks Drop

If you have a grinder, you could shorten the screws yourself.

I've pretty much gone to Warne Bases with their quick detach rings for my Encores and Contender.  They make it easy to switch scopes around to different barrels, make it easier to pack for a trip and the scope zero doesn't change in taking off/putting on the scope.

Well...T/C customer service strike's out... After 3 phone calls and 2 email's including part number's and a very detailed description of the problem.. "The screw's are to long" they sent me the exact thing I told them didnt work..DUH!!! I sure aint a happy camper..I spent close to $500 plus another $250 on a scope..Still sitting here waiting for them to fix the problem... And they want me to pay for the return shipping... I bought the base they called for...and they sent me another.. I dont want to risk damaging the holes in the barrel by grinding the screw's off  or I right REALLY be screwed Anybody here got any pull with T/C??? I sure could use some help. I been trying to get this thing together for 3 weeks now.. I dont want to makeshift anything either ..I didnt cut any corner's when I bought the stuff..Thanks All Drop

Well They say its the right mount and screw's..They been using this setup for a couple years now.. Sure seems like the screw's are to hard to get tight to me.. But they say they will stand behind any problems..The Warne t wrench that goe's ti 25 inch pounds didnt get them tight at all..It still rattled so I gave them about another turn...and it tightened down..But I expected the screw's to strip out at any time.. So I guess I am wrong about the problem. Seem's as though it is my fault... But as I say ..sure seems I had to tighten them way more than I trusted... Now off to the range in a couple days to sling some slugs.. I will keep you posted . T/C.. I am sorry   Drop

Well, it is possible the screw holes are not deep enough for the supplied screws, or that the screws are a little too long.   Any manufacturer can have slips that get through QC, not just TC.   But it is an easy fix as it is not hard at all to simply grind a little off the screws.   A 6 year old could do it.   Something that should be checked on any firearm you are mounting sights or scopes on.   Would much rather do that than take a chance of driving too long screws in so far that they bulge the bore.

As for TC's customer service, it has always been one of the best from any firearms company in this country or any other.   While its true that Tim retired and he was a huge loss to them, S&W took over and maybe some policy changes have occured under S&W rule, it is also true that your suspected problem was probably not the only one they had to get to.   Their customer service takes an active roll in the manufacturing process, including running quality control of that process.   They are also involved in R&D.   Spread too thin maybe, but custom service to customers is not their only concern.   Besides, try contacting any other firearms MFG for the same and see if you get a reply at all.

Evolution at work. Over two million years ago the genus Homo had small cranial capacity and thick skin to protect them from their environment. One species has evolved into obese cranial fatheads with thin skin in comparison that whines about anything and everything as their shield against their environment. Meus
