With so many "toys" that you can put on a Ruger mark 2, what have you put on yours and how does it work for you.
I have a Ruger mark 2 with 5.5 inch bull barrel in blue.
I installed the trigger shield from on-target, B-square universal scope mount that slides on, tasco 2x handgun scope burris Z rings, volquartsen right hand grips extenuated bolt release and extended mag release. I love the grips the scope Mount I put rubber cement on the rail edges so it will give extra gripping power. the extended mag release is OK the extended bolt release is great.
 I am thinking about putting a volquartsen trigger group on it but have heard lot of bad things about them.

Go with the Volquartzen trigger upgrade.  I just installed one on my Govt. Model Mark II...BIG difference!  The other options are nice (and I have most of them) but the trigger upgrade was hands-down the best thing I did to improve performance.  It's well worth the $80.00...got mine from On Target Guns.

I have seen several toys, the one that interests me is the bolt grip extension. any ideas on where to find?

I am considering getting one of these guns in stainless steel. What are the pro's and con's? I used to own a Standard model years ago and I remember it serving me well, every time i used it. Are there alot of aftermarket goodies for these guns, like the 10/22?

Flash:

The Ruger Govt. Model in SS is a nice gun...HOWEVER, it is a much nicer gun with the Volquartsen trigger and On-Target trigger shield.  This gun comes with target sights, nice wood grips, scope mount and rings...ready to shoot.  Fit this gun with a Ultra Dot scope and you have a really nice bullseye shooter.  

You can fit these guns with any number of grips, extended bolt and magazine releases, etc.  It all depends on how much you want to spend and what you want to end up.  BTW, there are a number of really nice target pistols out there, which are very close in cost to the Ruger SS Govt...once you've tricked the Ruger out.  It all depends on what you are looking for in a pistol.

I went to look at the Ruger today and also held the Buckmark and the S&W. I walked out with the Buckmark Camper. The Ruger was well into the $350 mark and for over $100 less, the Buckmark gave me just what I wanted. I still might sell off some T/C goodies and buy the Smith too. This has a scope rail, laminated full palm swell grip, adjustable sights and bull barrel. And still for less money for the Ruger.

Congratulations Flash!

I love my Rugers...but I've had my eye on a S&W Model 41 for some time now too.  All I need now is a good excuse to "justify" the purchase!  My guess is that I can pick one up for about $800...and the cost of a new diamond necklace.  HA!   :lol:

Actually Chris, the 22A was the one I was holding. As you, I cannot justify the cost of a model 41. Guns America has sellers offering them as low as $575 but the shape could be questionable. The 22A will be my next choice for a rimfire toy, regardless of the bells and whistles made for the Ruger. The Buckmark is nice and better suited for going in a tackebox or glovebox. The 22A will be going to the indoor range.

Hope the picture works.  Leupold 2X scope, Valquartzen sear,hammer and trigger,Wolf springs, Tucson grips, Allen head grip screws, Oversized stainless magazine release and the obvious scope end caps.

The finished gun looks a bit funky but it shoots under 1" at 50 yds with CCI Green Tag ammo.

Man thats nice!
 My 22/45 has been equiped with a B-Square Full Length Mount (Highly recommendable) and a Red dot sight. I also have 2 mags with 2 on the way, and I have put "Grip Tape" (similar to the gritty tape on a skateboard) to the front and rear of the grips. It shoots great with whatever I load it with, especially the bulk packaged remington and federal hollowpoints from walmart.

My first handgun was a MkII in stainless with a 10 inch tube.I never scoped it,but with iron factory sights and a factory 2lb trigger it would shoot 1 to 1 1/2 inch groups at 25 yards all day long.I sure miss that wonderful little pistol.Just makes me wonder what it would have done with a scope???I found the best way to clean it was to strip off the wood grips i installed and wash it with degreaser.NO OIL.It wouold jam like crazy if you oiled it.And I shot anywhere from 250 to 500 rounds a week in it.
