I have owned and tried out so many slug guns it is not even funny. I have had the H&R 20 and 12 gauge ultra slugger's,  Savage 210F bolt action, Remington 870 with a Hastings barrel, Remington 1100, Remington 11-78 Slug gun, Beretta Xtrema slug gun, and a Encore Slug gun and I am sure a few others.

My most accurate slug gun, and I hated that I got rid of it was my Remington 1100 with 2 3/4 inch Remington copper solids.

I replace it with my  Beretta Xtrema slug gun, although not quit as accurate, but close with Light fields 2 3/4 inch 1 1/4 oz slugs. I still have my Remington 870 with the Hastings  rifled barrel, and it is a great shooting gun with the Light fields 2 3/4 inch 1 1/4 oz slugs. And now my Encore is another fine shooting rifled slug gun with the Light fields 2 3/4 inch 1 1/4 oz slugs.

So for me, the best slug gun for the money is the Remington 870.

I have to go with Redhawk1, my 1100 Rem.- Hastings is the most accurate slug gun I have ever shot! My USH is a little bit less and hangs on the wall. I just got a 20" Hastings Econo barrel for my 870 Exspress and epoxyed the barrel to reciever last night. I have shot it and it's very close to the 1100. So for the $$ the 870.
RIP Mike. Died on July 14th, around 2am, with his family at his side, he went peacefully to be with god.

My vote is for the Marlin 512 bolt. The stock is ugly as sin. Luckily I have a friend who made me a beautiful stock out of walnut. I have a Burris 3x9 Euro plex recticle. If I do my part it will make one ragged hole at 100 yds. with Winchester BRI sabots. Forgot to mention my local gunsmith gave it a 2lb trigger with no creep that helps. Good lookin' and will shoot the lights out. I can't ask for anything more.

NEF/H&R for the money can't be beat.
