Stovepiping 1992 Winchester

I have an original 1892 Winchester in 38-40.
I'm getting stovepipes about once every eleven or twelve shots. Any ideas what to look for?
When it happens, the cartridge following slides into the action under the stovepiped round, making the jam difficult to clear quickly.

I think I got it fixed!
The spring under the left cartridge guide was out of position. That meant that the front of the guide that acts as a cartridge stop, was letting in a new cartridge before the first one was chambered, forcing it to stovepipe. Repositioning the spring, nicely holds the cartridge in the mag, until needed, ....so far anyway.
